Motivation develops the Habit

We would all like to be fit and feel great in our skin. Although the wish is very strong to do something about it, it drops when it’s time to go to the gym. Many are using an excuse that there is no time. I understand that you feel tired, that after long working hours you see yourself resting on the couch.

But you need to find a way, how to kick yourself to start and how to build the motivation to continue pushing yourself. Believe me, it won’t be necessary the whole time. The start is difficult but after a while this will become your habit and you will even start enjoying it!

Although I couldn’t understand this excuse “I have no time for the gym, for sporting.” just 2 years ago, I kind of understand it now. As an owner of a lunchroom it is many time difficult to push yourself into the gym or go for a run. My legs are very tired, feeling a lot of pain at the end of a day and far from the right mood for even getting dressed into sporting clothes. But, I still do it. Because I know that this is the only way to bring me where I want to go, because I want to feel fit at work, I want my blood to circulate and simply because the piece of chocolate at the evening feels better deserved. 🙂

Just before I started writing this post, I finished my dinner. I was at the gym after the working day. Mondays are a bit shorter days for us because we are closed and we’re busy preparing all the fresh items for the next day, when the shop opens. So going to the gym is a bit easier than other days, when is the earliest time that I can make it to the gym around 21.00. Yes. Pretty late. But it’s the only option.

What I would like to say is that don’t give up. You can make it to the gym; you can achieve the fit body as long as you will stay dedicated. Concentrate on your own success and your own achievements. It wasn’t given to anyone, even if sometimes looks like it. More fitter you would like to be, that much more you will have to work for it.

Here is couple of tips to keep you going:

Pictures of who you want to become (even I have them. I keep a folder of pictures of times when I should be happy with how I look and I didn’t appreciate it. Now I wish I could become the same I was just 2 years ago)

A plan: take a piece of paper and write really clear what you want (use colors, use pictures, tables, whatever you want), write ONLY positive things, not what you forbid yourself

Make a schedule (things you have to do, where you have to go) and find time when can you visit the gym AND don’t forget to put it on your schedule. Planning your day makes things going easier.

And remember:

“It never gets easy, you just get better!”

Plus beside that, the shower after hard sweating feels amazing. 😉
