Nut spread

Making spreads like peanut butter, almond butter, cashew spread is so easy to make, that it would be ridiculous to buy a “chemical”, full of bad oils, added E numbers, added sugar, etc spread from the shop. I forgive you only, if you tell me that you don’t have the equipment (even then you can borrow it from your mom, sister, friend, somebody, but ok). Believe me! Once you’re going to make your own nut spread, you will never, ever buy the fake one in the shop anymore. Beside that is very long lasting because of it’s natural oil in the nuts.

Are you still with me? Ok. Let’s make it happen.

First, you will need following items to be able to make it:

–       food processor

–       oven

–       jar where you’re planning to store it

Ingredients:

–       raw, unroasted peanuts for Peanut butter OR

–       raw, unroasted almonds for Almond butter OR

–       raw, unroasted cashew for Cashew butter OR

–       mix of all the nuts for Nut spread

–       pinch of salt

Extra ingredients (to make flavor extra special):

–       vanilla extract or vanilla bean

–       cacao powder

–       coconut oil

–       honey/raw agave syrup

Ready? Great. Choose which one are you going to make. For 1 kg of nuts, you will get 1 kg of butter, but it will look less, because of the volume.

NUT BUTTER

roasted peanutsStep 1: Spread the nuts on the baking paper and put them in the oven. Bake them for about 15 minutes on 180 degrees, but stir and mix them every 3-4 minutes! Especially if you have more layer of nuts. When golden brown, take them out and let them cool down.

You can skip this step, but I don’t suggest you. Roasting the nuts brings much more flavor out of them. But I do understand if you don’t have the oven at home.

Step 2: Put the nuts into the food processor, add 1 teaspoon of salt and start blending. Blend it for so long until you get the spreadable butter. And this is it! I swear! 🙂

NUT BUTTER with FLAVOR

If you made peanut butter, you can also keep half of the butter as it is and the other half you can make a Chocolate Peanut spread – interested? 🙂

Step 3: This recipe is based on peanut butter, I haven’t tried to make it with other nuts. The recipe is based on 500 g peanut butter. If you have bigger or smaller mass, you have to recalculate.

Chocolate Peanut butter

–       500g peanut butter

–       167g coconut oil

–       100g cacao powder

–       50g honey

Put peanut butter into the food processor. While turned ON, start adding the ingredients without putting the processor off. First the cacao powder, after the oil and then the honey.

Step 4: Store it in a jar. Close it, put a sticker on and voila! Finished! Store it in a dark and cool place (in a closet for example).

It’s so easy to make that I am expecting some tags on social medias with your creations! #babeonarunrecipes

Next time some examples of how to use the nut spreads! 😉
